As Apps for Good’s Expert Community Manager, I’ve been receiving a number of enquiries from our Experts about opportunities to meet fellow Apps for Good Experts. So, I decided it was time that we organised our first ever End of Year Expert Meet Up to bring our Experts together, which we held earlier this month.
After a few welcoming words from the event hosts and Debbie, our UK MD, Experts started to meet and mingle. Over beer, pizza and deliciously hand-made mince pies, exciting stories were shared, such as Experts being headhunted by other Experts at previous Apps for Good events. What really stood out for me was the shared passion among our Experts of supporting the next generation of problem-solvers and makers.
It’s been an incredible year for our Expert community, and since the 2013/2014 course launched in September, 100 Expert sessions have been delivered. Experts are visiting our schools across the UK and dialing in for sessions from as far away as Uganda, Brazil and the US. Some of our Experts have also been pitching in at conferences and events with 100s of other participating companies, trade show booths, displays and retractable banner stands.
Looking ahead, here are three ways you can support us as an Apps for Good Expert in the New Year:
1. Host an Expert Session!
Look out for emails from us and sign up for a session that suits your schedule and areas of expertise. Find out more
2. Help us spread the word to new schools to join Apps for Good
Do you know a school that would like to run the Apps for Good programme? Drop us an email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
3. Adopt a school
Would your company like to get involved with Apps for Good by sponsoring some of our schools, helping us deliver our course for free? If so, email email@example.com for more information.
Thank you to all of our Experts for being part of the Apps for Good movement and for all your generosity and support. Please keep your requests and suggestions coming!
Happy holidays and I look forward to working with all of you in the New Year.
